International Lecture Series #08 was held on Friday, October 27, 2023, online via Zoom Meeting. The topic of discussion is Urban Regeneration, which is related to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Societies). On this occasion, Diah Intan Kusuma Dewi, M.Eng from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Diponegoro University, was the moderator who guided the discussion with two presenters. The first material was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ilana Boltvinik from Instituto de Artes Plasticas, Universidad Veracruzana, Mexico, regarding “Counter-expeditions and counter-mapping in complex urban spaces”. Meanwhile, Retno Susanti, M.T. from the Department of Regional and City Planning, Diponegoro University, explained about “Studentification: Challenges for universities, cities, and society”. From this discussion, several important things were conveyed, including those related to the studentification phenomenon. The existence of this problem shows the need to integrate long-term university development plans with the preparation of city spatial plans so that the city government can anticipate the provision of adequate infrastructure. Development integration includes three activities, namely, 1) the space utilization system, 2) space utilization control, and 3) the form of spatial planning. At the webinar, there were around 106 participants who attended online, not only students and lecturers at Diponegoro University but also academics from other universities both in Indonesia and abroad, representatives of government agencies, NGOs and alumni of Diponegoro University.
