International Joint Studios (IJS 2022) is a platform for students to enhance their academic competencies and professional skills as well as their comprehension on urban planning from various perspectives. This activity is a collaboration of four universities in Indonesia; Diponegoro University, Gadjah Mada University, Bandung Institute of Technology, and Brawijaya University, KotaLab France, and ESSEC Grande Ecole France. The planning team who are members of IJS are required to be able to implement the framework, budget and governance strategies in the process of realizing a sustainable city. The method of implementing IJS is pedagogy to make students more comfortable and confident in learning new areas of knowledge. Furthermore, IJS facilitates studio participants to learn by carrying out the dynamics of urban development, including aspects of governance, community participation, real estate speculation, land values ​​and prices, and project management. Gamification is the job of the CITY LIVELIHOOD-MAKERS studio.  The students involved in IJS are master students. The implementation of IJS will involve professionals and practitioners. This is done to bridge the gap between formal education and professional life in the design and implementation of urban projects.

IJS 2022 will be held on 12-22 August 2022 with hybrid method.

The case study of IJS 2022 is Semarang Old City (extention).
