The Urban and Regional Planning Student Association (HMTP) – Faculty of Engineering, Diponegoro University, through Desa Binaan program and in collaboration with Calista Kisy Shintia, a 2023 Urban and Regional Planning student at Diponegoro University who currently holds the title of Puteri Lokantara Central Java II, and was previously won 2nd Runner-Up of Puteri Ekowisata Central Java 2024, played an active role in providing soft skills mentoring for Kalongan Village resident, Dimas Hartoko.
This mentoring activity initiated by the Community Development Division of HMTP Undip 2025, successfully supported Dimas Hartoko in winning 2nd place in the Male category at the Duta Generasi Berencana (GenRe Ambassador) contest of Semarang Regency 2025. The initiative began from the student’s awareness that improving human resource quality in rural communities is crucial for the village development. This initiative aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education), which emphasizes the importance of equipping communities with skills and providing access to non- formal education.
Through a series of mentoring sessions with Calista Kisy, HMTP equipped Dimas with communication skills, behavioral ethics, and public speaking abilities. Dimas was encouraged to be brave and confident when speaking and presenting in public.
“After the mentoring with Calista, I felt very motivated and started to understand the pageant world. I learned a lot, from advocacy initiatives to small details that now make me confident to perform in front of an audience,” said Dimas.
This effort yielded sweet results. Dimas Hartoko succeeded in winning 2nd place in Male category at the GenRe Ambassador contest in Semarang Regency 2025. This achievement is not only a personal pride but also brings honor to Desa Kalongan.
“I am very happy to participate in the GenRe Ambassador events from the village level up to the regency level. The ups and downs were worth it because friends in GenRe are always there at all times,” added Dimas.
The success of Kalongan Village residents in the GenRe Ambassador contest proves that synergy between students and rural communities can foster a young generation who are competitive, have good character, and ready to become agents of change in their environment. Going forward, the Community Development Division of HMTP Undip 2025 remains committed to continuously providing sustainable community empowerment and mentoring initiatives to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and goal 17 (Partnerships).
