On Thursday, May 12, 2022, the third series of International Lecture Series 2022 on the theme of “Urban Heritage Preservation” was held online via Zoom and Youtube channels. This theme relates to Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Healthy and Prosperous Life) and Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). At this event, two presenters delivered a speech on urban heritage moderated by Mrs. Novia Sari Ristianti, MT. The first presenter was Dr.-Ing. PD Nebojša Camprag from International Urbanism, Faculty of Architecture, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany. He gave a presentation entitled “Urban Heritage in Transformation: Sustainable Urban Development or Commodification of Culture”. It was continued with the presentation by Dr. Rina Kurniati from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, Universitas Diponegoro, entitled “Climate Sensitive Urban Design in The Public Space of Heritage Preservation Area”. There are several highlights from the two presenters, such as how to perceive sustainable heritage not only from the physical context but also by including the cultural context and the involvement of local communities mostly to further succeed in the Sustainable Development Goals. However, realizing sustainable heritage is facing a challenge related to climate change that affects the condition of heritage areas in the future. There were 169 participants, including lecturers and students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) of Urban and Regional Planning, Universitas Diponegoro. All the participants were enthusiastic in asking questions and responding to the presentations and made the discussion session interactive.
