On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, the signing of the Implementation Agreement (IA) was carried out to renew the collaboration between DURP Undip and the Technical University of Munich (TUM) School of Engineering and Design. This event represents a significant milestone towards Universitas Diponegoro’s vision of becoming a World Class University. The IA signing was represented by Prof. Dr. -Ing. Wiwandari Handayani, Head of DURP Undip, and Prof. Dr. Walter Timo de Vries, Director of the Master and PhD programs in Land Management and Geospatial Science at TUM.
The collaboration established between DURP Undip and TUM encompasses various aspects. One of them is the student internship program for DURP Undip International Undergraduate Students (IUP). This program provides students with the opportunity to gain work experience in an international setting. Additionally, there is a double degree program for Master’s students at DURP Undip. Equally important, the collaboration includes joint research for publication on topics such as land management and spatial analysis, aiming to produce publications in the reputable scopus journal.
Several publications resulting from the partnership between DURP Undip and TUM School of Engineering and Design will be accessible to the public. Some examples include:
- Geospatial Science for Smart Land Management: An Asian Context (https://doi.org/10.1201/9781003349518)
- Assessing Flood Vulnerability from Rapid Urbanization: A Case of Central Java – Indonesia (https://ssrn.com/abstract=4502711)
- Testing and Enhancing the 8R Framework of Responsible Land Management with Documented Strategies and Effects of Land Reclamation Projects in Indonesia (https://www.mdpi.com/2059568)

The renewal of this collaboration is expected to bring positive impacts to both institutions, particularly in enriching the knowledge and skills of students and faculty through various academic activities that will be conducted in the future. This partnership also aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which pertains to quality education. Therefore, it is hoped that the collaboration between DURP Undip and TUM School of Engineering and Design will make a significant contribution to creating solutions for global challenges in urban and regional planning.
