On Thursday, June 6, 2024, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning successfully held International Lecture Series #04. It was held online via zomm meeting (synchronously) and YouTube (asynchronously). The discussion is “Community Need Assessment,” which is related to Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and Sustainable Development Goal 13 (Climate Action). On this occasion, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wiwandari Handayani, as Head of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Diponegoro University, gave opening remarks. In her remarks, she said that this is the third year of ILS activities at DPWK UNDIP, involving academic partners from various institutions in different countries, bringing new perspectives to the study of regional and urban planning.

Samsul Ma’rif, SP, MT, from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Diponegoro University,  as the moderator, guide the discussion with two presenters. The first material was delivered by Febi Dwirahmadi, Ph.D., a Global Health Lecturer at the School of Medicine and Dentistry, Griffith University, Queensland, regarding “Evidence-Based Program Planning for Urban Health.” Meanwhile, Ir. Agung Sugiri, MPSt, from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Diponegoro University, explained about “Equity in Equity-Based Development.”

An important note in  the discussion was that the concept of sustainable development encompasses social, economic, and environmental aspects, and this concept has been integrated into healthy city programs. The health sector plays a crucial role; if a city’s health system functions well, the city can recover more quickly from disasters. The process of planning a healthy city requires community participation to identify issues and needs in health services and safe physical environments. Gathering information will provide an indication of the needs for planning a healthy community. The webinar activity went well and there were 55 participants attending synchronously (Zoom meeting), not only students and lecturers at Diponegoro University but also academics from other universities both in Indonesia and abroad, representatives of government agencies, NGOs and alumni of Diponegoro University.
