On Thursday, October 27, 2022, the International Lecture Series 2022 with the theme Sustainable Urban Design. The activity was held in a hybrid mode at the Theater Room and Zoom and broadcast through the YouTube channel. The theme of ILS can generally be related to Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) and Sustainable Development Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities). On that occasion, Prof. Dr. Shuhana Shamsuddin from Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia – Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, as well as President of Malaysian Urban Design Association, gave a presentation related to her research on “Public Spaces of the Ordinary and Not So Ordinary Towns and Cities in Malaysia”. In her presentation, Prof. Dr. Shuhana explained the results of a study on the condition of open spaces in Malaysia and the challenges in designing sustainable and inclusive public open spaces for the community. The next session was the presentation of material by Dr. Retno Widjajanti from the Department of Urban and Regional Planning on “Space for Street Vendor Activities in Urban Areas”. An important note in the explanation is that the use of space by street vendors is based on a strategic location, accessibility, main activities, and space comfort. This time the lecture was moderated by Grandy Loranessa Wungo, MT, from the Laboratory of Physical and Spatial Design, with a total of 177 online and offline participants, mainly from lecturers, undergraduate and postgraduate students of Urban and Regional Planning, University Diponegoro. The discussion session went well in terms of the high enthusiasm of the activity participants in asking questions and responding to the lecturers’ explanations.
